ABOUT

The 20-Day Australia’s Outback Up-Close tour is an exploration of Australia’s isolated corners. Defined as the remote, rural regions of the country, the Australian Outback spans from the earthy red deserts of the Red Center to the winding waterways of the Mary River floodplains to the arid sand dunes that fringe the Western coast. Experience these diverse and off-the-beaten path environments with the local guides that know them best. Start in the Red Center of the country, where the sun directs a symphony of light across Australia’s most iconic and stirring sight – Uluru. Connect with the aboriginal culture among wide-open spaces and harsh but stirring landscapes. Then head due north to the Bamarru Plains, where crocodiles and wallabies lurk in the marshy environs and the buzz of your fan boat fades into the sounds of the wilderness. Next, try your hand at Australian ranch life at Home Valley Station as indigenous guides show you the secrets of life in the Kimberley Region. After your time in the interior, cool down by plunging into the coast with days snorkeling in the secluded Ningaloo Reef and trekking along the Cape to Cape Track near Margaret River. Finally, contrast Australia’s quiet corners with the country’s biggest city as you spend your last four nights delving into Sydney’s sights on a bike tour, bridge climb, and boat cruise!

In the crisp, white linen of a king-sized bed you will find the serene, silent sleep of the desert. Above the sweeping canopy of your palatial tent floats a greater canopy, endless and sparkling – a starry night sky you simply don’t see in the city. As one of only 30 pampered guests, you awake to your own private view of the sun rising over Uluru (Ayers Rock). Reflecting a rainbow of colors, Uluru drenches you with its fabled light.
